Living From The Inside Out

“Give me beauty in the inward soul; may the outward and inward man be at one.”  ~ Socrates

One of the gifts that has come with this year, is my return to the practice of yoga. While, yoga is practiced in many cultures and religions, as a Christian, I find its principles consistent with scriptures that admonish us to meditate or think on good things, walk in wholeness, peace and harmony (Philippians 4:8).  During our yoga sessions with Jada Right, we are encouraged to find our center and engage our minds with each movement and breathe.

In his book Leadership from the Inside Out, Kevin Cashman states, to live in such a manner involves “awakening to our inner identity, purpose and vision so that our lives thereafter are dedicated to a conscious, intentional manner of living.” Practicing disciplines like reflection give us opportunities to connect with God and our inner being with intentionality.

Living from the inside out requires that I live true to my gifts, passions and values while living a life of inner peace.  What better time than the end of the year to reflect on the challenges and triumphs of lessons learned. As we prepare to close out this year and begin a new year, let us take these principles with us, when life gets difficult, as it sometimes does, let us go deep inside and live our lives from the inside out.

Blessings…
